Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)
Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia). In AFib, the heart's upper chambers (atria) beat chaotically and irregularly, out of sync with the lower chambers (ventricles). This can lead to blood pooling in the atria and potentially forming clots.
Symptoms
- Heart palpitations (rapid, fluttering, or pounding heartbeat)
- Fatigue and weakness
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain or discomfort
Some people with AFib have no symptoms and discover their condition during a routine examination.
Why AFib Matters
AFib increases your risk of stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications. People with AFib are five times more likely to have a stroke than those without it.
Treatment Options
Our comprehensive AFib management includes medications to control heart rate and rhythm, blood thinners to prevent stroke, and procedures such as cardioversion or catheter ablation. We work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan based on your specific needs and overall health.
